That's exactly what I do:
- Get a snapshot of php 5.1 sources
- Configure it like this:
config.nice-cli:
--------------
#! /bin/sh
#
# Created by configure
'./configure' \
'--disable-cgi' \
'--prefix=/data/cvs/php/php5cli/' \
'--exec-prefix=/data/cvs/php/php5cli/' \
"$@"
--------------
make, make install.
Then, check out the phpgtk2 sources and configure them like this:
cweiske:/data/cvs/phpgtk2/php-gtk> cat config.nice
--------------
#! /bin/sh
#
# Created by configure
'./configure' \
'--prefix=/data/cvs/php/php5install/' \
'--exec-prefix=/data/cvs/php/php5install/' \
'--with-php-config=/data/cvs/php/php5install/bin/php-config' \
'--disable-scrollpane' \
'--disable-spaned' \
'--disable-sqpane' \
'--disable-combobutton' \
'--disable-piemenu' \
"$@"
--------------
make, make install
Now you only need to link the standalone php binary into your /usr/bin/
as e.g. "p5", and you can start phpgtk2-programs like "p5 phpgtk2-demo.php"
Don't forget to activate the extension in the new php.ini
