Yes, NSIS is good - but the reason I got excited about Bitrock is it's a multi-platform installer.
It's not free to commercial users though... and it's not entirely clear whether it would be free for OSS applications.

Subject: Re: [PHP-GTK] newbie needs help
Hello, I highly recommend the NSIS installer system, I'm using it for a commercial PHP-GTK 2 application. I built a deployable copy of PHP-GTK mostly following Elizabeth's tutorial, then created an installer with NSIS that puts my application and the deployable build into the install folder, installs a font, and creates shortcuts for the user. You can use the Starts In... property of the shortcuts to make sure your application runs on top of your own build. In my case, this makes more sense than using an outside installer; since I have to support the application I want control over the build version and its configuration options. At any rate, NSIS is well documented, includes plenty of example scripts, compresses the files (turning 40MB of data into a 15MB executable installer), can create an uninstaller, and can do pretty much everything you'd expect from an installer (create shortcuts, modify the registry, etc). The script file for creating the installer does not have to be lengthy either, mine is roughly a page of text and that includes blank lines for readability and comments yet includes all the steps an end-user will expect: welcome page, select install directory, select menu name for Start Menu Shortcuts, etc. -Jake Cobb Mr. Dreadsoft wrote:blckspder ha scritto:-- PHP-GTK General Mailing List (http://gtk.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.phpahh alright... Thanks for the reply... is it possible to package all the required files into an installer? So the end user doesn't have to do it all themselves?for windows users, you can suggest them to use gnope. http://www.gnope.org once installed, all they have to do is run c:\php-gtk2\php-win.exe yourscript.php there's another self-installer for php-gtk, called gtkdev http://www.firepages.org/gtkdev.htm anyhow, if you want to make your own installer, I would rather use the (free and open source) NSIS installer http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page Marco
