There is no requirement to use a database.
But will serve to keep dynamic content.
Can be sqlite.
For example, a wiki, news and etc.
It is much easier to make a select to fill a news page than opening an .html or .php and stay changing or adding lines of code.
See that up to build a search engine on the site will be better.

It is interesting to have access to a database. A database would bring many facilities. thank youIt's currently running the following version of PHP: PHP 5.4.39-0+deb7u2 (cli) (built: Mar 25 2015 08:33:29) The same machine also runs viewvc for the old SVN repo, so it regularly gets its resources consumed by Python. Why do you think the website will need a database? I think we should avoid a database requirement, if possible. If not possible, you'll likely need to use something like SQLite. It will be difficult to make an argument for access to MySQL. -Ben
