Just a shot in the dark.
As far as I am aware apxs is a perl script. So you need to install
perl before your apxs will run.

Subject: [PHP-INST] apxs problems...
Importance: High
I have apache 1.3.14 installed with mod_ssl on a fresh install of redhat 6.2
I'm trying to compile php403pl1 with the following options:
./configure --with-sybase-ct=/usr/local/sybase --without-mysql --with-apxs
the ctlib-linux-elf.tar.gz library was downloaded and installed in
/usr/local/sybase
What I get:
"error: Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Either you need to install perl or you
need
to pass the absolute path of apxs by
using --with-apxs=/absolute/path/to/apxs"
I have apxs in /usr/local/apache/bin
So I do :
./configure --with-sybase-ct=/usr/local/sybase --without-mysql \
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
What I get when the config script gets to the
"checking for Apache module support via DSO through APXS..." part is
a "help" message that goes as follow:
Usage: apxs -g [-S var=val] -n modname
apxs -q (etc)
You get the general idea.
After that message, I still get the message:
"error: Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Either you need to install perl or you
need
to pass the absolute path of apxs by
using --with-apxs=/absolute/path/to/apxs"
I would appreciate any help with this - I've exhausted my usual support
resources
and am really stuck there :)
Regards,
Pascal Jolin
