Howdy,
I've been battling all day trying to get PHP to run on our baseline httpd
system here as a DSO, and having no luck debugging the problems.
The build works fine - configure runs without any problem (although we get
a duplicate symbol problem when trying to use GD, so it's commented out
for now):
./configure --prefix=/opt/php/4.0.3pl1
--with-apxs=/opt/httpd/1.3.14/sbin/apxs
--with-mysql=/usr/local
--without-gd
--with-config-file-path=/usr/local/httpd/etc/php.ini
Apache starts up OK, and perhaps will server a few .GIF requests, but then
all the kids start crashing with a SEGV:
read(6, " G E T / f o o . p h p".., 4096) = 275

It seems to happen after an lstat64() or a close() in most instances.
Unfortunately, no core file is produced (I haven't figured out why -
permissions and space are not a problem). We can't get gdb to return
useful backtrace when it's attached either, even though everything still
has symbols. I suspect it has something to do with the fact we're
attaching to a running DSO - anybody have pointers on this one?
I realize that many folks have PHP running, so it must be something to do
with our install, but we have other DSOs running fine:
tomcat
fastcgi
mod_auth_mysql
to list a few. The web shows up a few searches having to do with running
out of file descriptors, but that's definately not the problem here - we
have more than enough left, as we're not doing IP-based vhosts on this
machine.
Any pointers would be helpful, of course.
Thanks,
David.
