OK I have a SUN SPARC 10 with 2 cpus
OS is Solaris 8 and it is been patched with the latest patch....
installed packages from www.sunfreeware.com
gcc 3.2.2
sed
make
bison
flex
perl 5.8 and have load cpan..
binutils
m4
autoconf
automake
gzip
I also have mysql running on yet another ultraSPARC
I built apache 1.3.x latest and gratest...(have done this many times over the years)
with ./configure --PREFIX=/usr/local/apache --enable-module=so
and built it works like a champ...

i got php and untarded it... /usr/local/src/php-4.3.0
and then moved it to .... /usr/local/php-4.3.0
i made shure that apxs was in my path
cd to /usr/local/php-4.3.0
#./configure --with-apxs
this seems to work
#make
this fails with the following message
ld: fatal: file ext/ctype/ctype.lo unkown file type
du what up with that??????
