php snapshot compile on debian: execute apr-config?

it seems that configure does not obey the default location of apache2-apr on debian:
# /usr/bin/apr-config --includes
-I/usr/include/apr-0
it would be very nice, if php configure would notice the presence of apr-config, and execute it to
get the right values.
