mod_php4.c / Apache Version Error

I am running Apache 1.3.14, modssl, mysql, and php-4.0.3pl1. When I
try to start apache, this error occurs:
[Mon Dec 11 00:01:53 2000] [warn] Loaded DSO
/System/Library/Apache/Modules/libphp4.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API,
this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)
httpd: module "/usr/local/php-4.0.3pl1/sapi/apache/mod_php4.c" is
not compatible with this version of Apache.
Please contact the vendor for the correct version.
/usr/sbin/apachectl startssl: httpd could not be started
Is there a patch for compatibility for Apache 1.3.14? Thanks!
