big newbie question, but hopefully simple. If there's a howto, just
point me to it and I'll come back to the list after I mess it up. I'm
running redhat 7 on intel:
If I want to install PHP with support for MySQL, do I need to install
MySQL from source, or is RPM installation Ok?... I'm just thinking about
the php configure script and specifying the path to mysql (configure
--with-mysql=/path/to/mysql), and pointing the php configure script to
the right directory in an RPM MySQL install. I want to install from RPM
mainly because 1)it's easy and 2)it's easy - the rpm automates the
symlinks in the rc.x directories, so mysqld starts at system startup.
If I have to install from source, how difficult is it to get mysqld to
start at system start... can I simply copy the mysqld binary in
/etc/rc.d/init.d, then use ntsysv or chkconfig to configure mysqld to
start at system startup?
Thanks!
