4.3.1 migration to 4.3.6

Hi I'm new to this so hope this is understandable. I currently have a
windows 200o server that is running php 4.3.1. I need to upgrade this to
the latest version and have a couple of questions.
1. How do I find out how the original 4.3.1 was installed i.e. CGI or ISAPI
2. Once I find out can I just run the "php-4.3.6-Win32.zip" file that I down
loaded and follow the install text file?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
