hi,
seems like mhash just wont work.
tried mhash 0.8.3 and 0.8.4. make check succeeds. make install dumps it in /usr/local/lib.
php's configure reports "checking for mhash support... no"
this is php 4.0.3pl1
i tried --with-mhash, --enable-mhash=/usr/local/lib, both, other permutations, etc.
i added /usr/local/lib to ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig. i even tried copying the mhash libs to
/usr/lib and so forth and so on...this is really getting stupid.
php is great, but i have _never_ gotten it to compile on the first shot. i ALWAYS get complaints
from mhash, or mcrypt, or libmcrypt, mysql, or something else.
this is strange to me because all of these programs mentioned are very simple configure/make/make
install deals...
and pouring over the lists, it looks like im not the only one.
are we all just losers, or is php's config deal a bit...unintuitive?
