help.. ld error?

Hello... I am trying to install php4.0.3pl1 with apache 1.3.12 I am success with the make and make install of php, but when I do a make of the apache it give the following errors... uncompress /usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(my_compress.o) compress /usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(my_compress.o) ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors.
