GD problems

Hi Got a very annoying problem - with both PHP3 and PHP4 ... I have installed both PHP3 and PHP4 on a FreeBSD 4.2 server - running Apache 1.3.12. Both 3 and 4 with GD support - no problem. Suddenly I cannot compile either version of PHP with GD support. I've tried to uninstall/reinstall GD (1.8.3) - Jpeg - libpng and zlib - still nothing works.
