Problems- Configuring PHP module with Apache

Dear sir, I am working on Horde for which we need a php module enabled with apache.I downloaded the tar files of php ver 3.0 and 4.0 and followed the instructions given in the Documentation to the word.Installation was thro' without any errors, but apache server doesn't start and gives the following error: "Cannot add module via name 'mod_so.c': not in list of loaded modules ./apachectl start: httpd could not be started" Otherwise apache works fine without being recompiled with php. The steps followed by me to compile php and apache is as follows: Apache: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --enable-rule=SHARED_CORE \ --enable-module=so --enable-module=proxy --enable-shared=proxy \ --enable-module=rewrite --enable-shared=rewrite make make install Installation is thro' without any errors and i can start apachectl. PHP: ./configure --with-apache=/build_src/apache \ --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql \ --enable-track-vars make make install This also works perfectly Recompiling Apache with PHP: ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a make make install The installation is thro' without any errors But, When i look into my httpd.conf file, i am unable to see LoadModule and AddModule entry for php3.Also when i try restarting the service the apache is not starting.
