phpinfo problem

Just one problem. The traditional "Hello World," program that my book starts off with includes a PHP function called, phpinfo()--prefaced by a print command. It's supposed to print out a rather large amount of information in the form of a table. Have you ever head of this function? It won't work for me. It just prints a ton of code, instead of printing the table. Is there a good place where I can get an entire list of all PHP functions?
