PHP 4.0.4 - unable to configure under Solaris 2.6

I'm trying to configure PHP 4.0.4 under Solaris 2.6. I just filed a bug at bugs.php.net, but it was a bug I could somehow overcome (concerning library order while testing gzgets()). However I also found later configure is screwed up even deeper. Please find debug.log below. What I can see is: configure is run with '--with-zlib', however libz.a (-lz) is not referenced while seteuid testing. Therefore uncompress and compress (from mysql) are not found. Moreover I wonder why libmysqlclient.so is touched while testing seteuid presence. I'd appreciate any suggestion about any workaround which would make it work. Please cc: to me.
