Make install fails

Hi,
I'm trying to install PHP 4.3.11 with Apache 2.0.53 on SuSE 9.0. configure and
make work fine, but "make install" aborts with this error message:
Installing PHP SAPI module: apache2handler

make: *** [install-sapi] Error 1
Could anybody tell my what might be the problem, please. And how can I solve
this problem? In my opinion, the only thing to be done is to copy the
compiled module into the modules directory of Apache. Or am I wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.
