If you're doing a static install then yes. (ie. using --with-apache in PHP configure) I suspect you have some stale gd.h laying around in your system. And also some different version of libgd.a (or libgd.so). Please try this: # find / -name gd.h and # find / -name libgd.* to find all of those files. >> and see the result.
