Try prefixing your configure command with an LDFLAGS setting like: LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib -R/usr/local/lib" ./configure ... your usual options here... if that doesn't work, then add /usr/local/lib to your runtime linking environment using the following command: crle -c /var/ld/ld.config -l /usr/lib:/usr/local/lib If you're using a 64-bit compiler and making a 64-bit binary, you'll also need to do: crle -64 -c /var/ld/64/ld.config -l /usr/lib/64:/usr/local/lib/sparcv9
