Problem with math

Using PHP Version 3.0.18, Apache Version: Apache/1.3.14
on a Linux RH6.2.
when i try to do mathematic function, or just display vars
ie 4,5*4,5
sometimes (after reload page) i get the output 4*4= 16
and sometimes 4,5*4,5= 20,25
Does anybody had same or similar problems?
What can go wrong?
