libphp4.so is not an Apache module DSO

I have installed RH6.2 with apache_1.3.12 and am trying to install php-4.0.2 as dynamic module. It has generated libphp4.so and mod_php.c, which I have include in the conf/httpd.conf after modifying this file, I restarted apache server using ./apachectl restart The error message was as follows : ./apachectl restart: configuration broken, ignoring restart ./apachectl restart: (run 'apachectl configtest' for details) Then issued command ./apachectl configtest The message was as follows: Syntax error on line 238 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure 'php4_module' in file /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so is garbled - perhaps this is not Apache module DSO?
