I am installing PHP 4.0.2. Following the instructions in php-4.0.2/INSTALL for a Static installation. I am to the step where I cd to ../apache_1.3.12 and then ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a --disable-shared=php4 and then make Things go along fine for a while then this happens: rm -f libstandard.a ar cr libstandard.a mod_env.o mod_log_config.o mod_mime.o mod_negotiatio n.o mod_status.o mod_include.o mod_autoindex.o mod_dir.o mod_cgi.o mod_asis.o mo d_imap.o mod_actions.o mod_userdir.o mod_alias.o mod_access.o mod_auth.o mod_set envif.o ranlib libstandard.a <=== src/modules/standard ===> src/modules/php4 make: fatal error: don't know how to make all (bu42). *** Error code 1 (bu21) make: fatal error. *** Error code 1 (bu21) make: fatal error. *** Error code 1 (bu21) make: fatal error. *** Error code 1 (bu21) Sure enough, apache_1.3.12/src/modules/php4 is an empty directory. I thought that the php4 make process was going to set everything up. I added the --disable-shared=php4 stuff because my apache is configured with --enable-module=most --enable-shared=max.
