pdf_new() is apparently boggus or unknown, try this in place :
$fd = fopen("/path/to/the/pdf-file/test.pdf", "w");
$pdf = pdf_open($fd);
Make shure your apache process can write to this directory and if the
file alreadey exist, tat the file has good rights on and good owner and
group menbership.
