Hello !
I've installed RH7 in an x86. It comes with RPM's for PHP (4.01pl2 I think) and other
modules (MySQL, IMAP...).
This is the thing:
- An easy RH7 install
- I look for the modules after installation:
- libphp4.so in modules
- imap.so, mysql.so in /usr/lib/php4
All the binaries seem to be OK (I can't believe I didn't have to compile)
I edit httpd.conf, it has already the lines for PHP under a <IfDefine HAVE_PHP> directive.
So I make active:
LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so
..
AddModule mod_php4.c
..
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php4 .php3 .phtml .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
..
that already came with httpd.conf from RH7 Apache RPM's
Life is beutiful ! Now, I go to /var/www/cgi-bin (because ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/
"/var/www/cgi-bin/")
and I write a test .php file, for example the old <? phpinfo(); ?>. I give execute permissions
to the file.
Then I try to navigate to http://localhost/cgi-bin/test.php and I get an error
500:

Arrrg! What's going on? All the binaries seem here, and httpd.conf seems OK.
I am going to recompile it all again sooner or later anyway, but I'm afraid that after
compilation
I would leave everything more or less as it is now, so I'd rather know the reasons of the
failure.
Has anybody had a similar experience?
Thanks in advance!
