If you are doing a new installation of Apache, your srm.conf will only contain a comment telling you not to use it (I'm paraphrasing). All options are available in the httpd.conf. If you have a newer version (lwithin the last two years or do) of Apache, the lines to activate PHP will already be in the httpd.conf file.
