php + apache + mysql + ssl

hello guys, i am having trouble doing "make" for apache 1.3.20 for my redhat 7.0 box. I followed the tutorial in devshed.com, and the process i take is - compile mysql first, then compile php with apache option, then compile ssl (open and mod with rsaref 2.0), then all seems smooth except when i configure the apache, then run 'make', with options --activate-module=php4 and --with-module=php4 (i'm at work so i don't remember the syntax exactly) it activates that module, then when it process file "tmp_apache_dir/src/modules/php4/libphp4.a" it returns error saying undefined reference compress and undefined reference uncompress. (seemed like this error was coming from mysql integration) anyone? need more information? exact error msg? -sean ps thanx in advance
