PHP 3.0.17 problmes installing on zipslack 7.1

I had php 3.x installed on zipslack 4.x however, I was having problems with some per function and zipslack 7.1 had the newest version of perl. I wiped out the old zipslack installed the newer version, 7.1, and installed linuxinc.tgz to make up for some files missing from 7.1 Now I can't get php 3.x to install. after running when i run make i get this error message and the process stops.... main.c line 1665 SIGFPE undefined and SIG_IGN undefine and the process stops I even tried using the setup script that comes with php, still the same error...also I'm not using apache is any way shape or form....it's a local machine off the net. and I ran a simple configure without any --with-xyz ...just ./configure, make, make install I have no idea what the problem is, I checked the newsgroup postings and couldn't find anything that comes close.
