I tried installing PHP 4 (as an SO module under Apache 1.3.12 and with MySQL support) on my Mac OS X Public Beta w/Developer Tools package. At the end of the ./configure phase I got this message. +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | *** ATTENTION *** | | | | Something is likely to be messed up here, because the configure | | script was not able to detect a simple feature on your platform. | | This is often caused by incorrect configuration parameters. Please | | see the file debug.log for error messages. | | | | If you are unable to fix this, send the file debug.log to the | | php-install@lists.php.net mailing list and include appropiate | | information about your setup. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ I tried going on. "make" works, but "make install" aborts with the following lines: cp: libs/libphp4.so: No such file or directory apxs:Break: Command failed with rc=6553 6make[1]: *** [install-sapi] Error 1 make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 This is my debug.log file: [localhost:/usr/local/php4] root# cat debug.log CONFIGURE: './configure' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs' CC: cc CFLAGS: -g -O2 CPPFLAGS: -traditional-cpp -DEAPI=1 CXX: CXXFLAGS: INCLUDES: -I/System/Library/Frameworks/Apache.framework/Versions/1.3/Headers -I$(top_b uilddir)/Zend -I$(top_srcdir) -I/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql LDFLAGS: -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql LIBS: -lmysqlclient DLIBS: SAPI: apache PHP_RPATHS: /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql uname -a: Darwin localhost 1.2 Darwin Kernel Version 1.2: Wed Aug 30 23:32:53 PDT 2000; root:xnu/xnu-103.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc cc -o conftest -g -O2 -traditional-cpp -DEAPI=1 -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql conftest.c -lmysqlclient 1>&5} Hope that helps.
