install problem : using old php config?

I ran through the whole install of php4 on rh linux 7.2 with mysql support when I originally setup this machine it had php4.0 on it. I compiled and installed php4.1 and copied the php.ini-dist to /etc/php.ini (which is where the old one was) i then restarted the web server but when i try phpinfo(); its still showing me php 4.0 any ideas? probably something simple. thanks
