I am in the process of installing PHP, APACHE, and MySQL on my laptop using Redhat 7.0. I want to configure PHP to support image creation with freetype (truetype fonts) and also PDF creation. I know that redhat comes with th GD library but i do not know what directory it is in for the configure script. When i read the documentation for the pdflib it explained that i needed the JPEG and PNG librarys. I thought these were already installed through GD. Do i have to install them also? Finally, when configuring PHP for the freetype support do i need to include the freetype source directory or the binary install directory? I am using the latest version of php (PHP 4.0.3pl1 ). Below are the resources I used for help and downloads. GD: http://www.boutell.com/gd/ Freetype: http://www.freetype.org PDFLib: http://www.pdflib.org PHP config options: http://www.php.net/manual/install.configure.php#install.configure.graphics The following is from the PHP configuration support page. I am not sure what directories to use for these options. Also, what is the difference between the two freetype options? ---------------- PHP SUPPORT PAGE---------------------- --enable-freetype-4bit-antialias-hack PHP 4: Include support for FreeType2 (experimental). --with-gd[=DIR] PHP 4: Include GD support (DIR is GD's install dir). Set DIR to shared to build as a dl, or shared,DIR to build as a dl and still specify DIR. --with-jpeg-dir[=DIR] PHP 4: jpeg dir for pdflib 3.x --with-png-dir[=DIR] PHP 4: png dir for pdflib 3.x --with-tiff-dir[=DIR] PHP 4: tiff dir for pdflib 3.x --with-ttf[=DIR] PHP 3, PHP 4: Include FreeType support -------------END PHP SUPPORT PAGE---------------------- Thanks in advanced for any help.
