php failing from within .html pages...

Anybody? I've set up an account on Interland on using Linux. The way they have their cgi php installed php only works within .php or .phtml pages, which is not acceptable for my use. Their tech guys can't help. Example: <html> <body> <?php include "blah.php"; ?> </body> </html> ...displays only html, and the php tag is visible in source code. I tried installing a .htaccess file in the site root, which doesn't help either: "AddType application/x-httpd-php .html" this worked on another host, but not Interland. Help??
