chrooted apache; php as dso; mysql outside jail

hi, I tried to configure a chrooted web server (apache) with php. Everything works fine except mysql support builtin in php which fails to work on localhost mysql server. The problem: for local connections "mysql_connect" php's function tries to locate /var/lib/mysql/mysq.sock socket file. I do not want to use mysql's socket file not even for local connections because of chrooted instalation.
