Installation of an forum using Linux, Xitami and PHP4, how to configure PHP?

Dear people,
I have a server running, Suse Linux 7.2. I have the Xitami webserver running
with 4 Vhosts. On one of these hosts I want to run a forum that is using PHP
and MySql (but one thing at the time :-)) PHP is selected as packages at the
beginning of the installation of Linux. So the first setup is done bij Suse.
I have the options:
[Filter]
.php = "/usr/bin/php"
[Mime]
Php = "application/x-httpd-php"
set in defaults.cfg of Xitami.
But a very simple script (works om the commandline) is not handeld bij php
in a browser.
Do I have to reconfigure PHP, if so how, if not so how can I get thing's to
work?
Please help, it is not easy for an PHP starter :-)
