I am running a Powerbook G4, with OS X 10.1.5 installed. I have successfully configured and installed mod_perl 1.2.7, perl 5.8.0, apache 1.3.26 and postgresql 7.1.2. All of these applications are running perfectly.
I know wish to install PHP with postgres support. It seems to compile fine, but gives the following warnings during make:
*** Warning: This library needs some functionality provided by -lpq.
*** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in when
*** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a
*** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have.
*** Warning: libtool could not satisfy all declared inter-library
*** dependencies of module libphp4. Therefore, libtool will create
*** a static module, that should work as long as the dlopening
*** application is linked with the -dlopen flag.
Due to these warnings, make install fails miserably, saying that the resulting module is not really a module.
After some investigation, I found that a few people have had this problem, and been unable to resolve it. I'm just wondering if anyone here has a fix? It seems that PHP is trying to use the psql lib from /usr/local/pgsql/lib/libpq.so.2.2 which is in fact not really a shared library:
~$ file /usr/local/pgsql/lib/libpq.so.2.2
/usr/local/pgsql/lib/libpq.so.2.2: Mach-O bundle ppc
I tried changing the libdeps_method_check to be "pass_all" in the ./configure file, but that just made it bypass the warning and still not work :)
My ./configure line is:
./configure \
--disable-cli \
--disable-pear \
--without-mysql \
--with-pgsql=/usr/local/pgsql \
--with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs
If anybody has ANY ideas, I'd love to hear 'em. I open to experiment with anything, as I've been trying all different things for weeks. I have tried the CVS snapshot of php4, but that wont even compile on OS X. I've also tried loading it as a static apache module instead of a DSO, but that fails too.
I'm begging for help :)
thanks in advance
