PHP not parsing

We have a linux (Redhat 7.2) box on our network that has Apache and PHP4.0.6
(CGI) working, but it did not have mysql on it.
I have since installed Mysql and it appears to be working but for some
reason PHP has stopped parsing, it seems to run ok from the command prompt
but not via a browser. I have not changed the httpd.conf file of the
php.ini file.
Please can anyone help with the most strange problem.
