I'm using PHP 4.2.2 (the "stable" build, not any f the later builds), so I still need to configure with --enable-cli (which I have done).
Then I do the make, and make install, and at the end of the install output I see:
Installing program: phpize
Installing program: php-config
Installing program: pear
Installing program: pearize
Installing program: phptar
Installing program: phpextdist
It doesn't install the php program, although ./sapi/cli/php exists and was built by the make step.
Bug 17506 claims both that this is "fixed in CVS" (post 4.2.1) AND "intentional".
Given that 4.2.2 is 4.2.1 with a security fix, do I presume that "intentional" is the decision and keep copying the file?
Can I presume that the copy will be done in 4.3 (4.2.3?) when CLI mode is not "experimental"?
