PHP4 installed under apache

I have installed PHP4 under apache as a module, it looks like everything is allright but if i try a file with <?phpinfo()?> in it,this just displays the file like a normal text file. The same command in a php3 file displays all ok. Can be this, because when i compiled this module, it missed some header files lik httpd.h etc., so i copied them from the apache 1.3.12 source directory to the php directory? P.S. I have also added the things described in the install file, to the httpd.conf file:) .
