PHP4/Windows/Sybase

Dear list, Does anyone have experience setting up PHP4 to work with Sybase in a Windows environment? I've tried to get it to work without success. The open client runtime (from ASE 11.9.2) is installed, and SQL Advantage works fine. However when trying to connect to the database with sybase_connect(), PHP crashes on my Win98 machine and hangs on my NT4 box. We're able to use the ODBC drivers to connect, but I'd prefer using the native drivers, especially since we might be using this program on Unix servers later. The PHP version I'm using is the binary 4.0.3pl1 from php.net, and I'm using the CGI executable. I've tried it on both Apache and IIS, but it doesn't seem to make a difference which server I'm using. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
