My suggestion would be to not deprecate anything for the time being. Although the new api may be better, it's a small improvement, and would be quite annoying for people who don't need to migrate. Longer term, splitting up/forking the core libraries, so that it is easier to evolve them is something we should be looking at. But that's a big task. cheers Dan Ack
