Indeed, we have added frameless versions of functions before, without a RFC.
This is not a problem because this is just like any other optimization that we PR.
Note that we always need to have _both_ a normal handler and a frameless handler, so it's not
about _converting_ but about adding another handler (just making sure we're on the same page
:-)).
