That's the idea behind the libraries. Omar Kilani and I have coordinated a few times while working on our respective packages, to ensure their use is similar so switching between the two is fast & easy. I think they complement each other well, especially for distributed PHP software that needs JSON support but can't rely on recent PHP5 versions or root privileges on all hosts.
