mcrypt & streams

Hi! We have mcrypt streams documented here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/filters.encryption.php however contrary to what the manual says, I do not see any implementation of mcrypt.* filters in mcrypt extension. There's some code in PECL mcrypt_filters extension, which is never mentioned in the manual and seems to not be touched by anybody for 3-4 years.
