If .php3 is working and .php is not, it appears that you would have php3
installed on the machine. You need to edit the httpd.conf file for Apache
and add .php to the list of extensions for the php handler. Just search
for php3 to find it.
Note that php is typically an extension for PHP 4 scripts nowadays, so if
you download any scripts with that extension, you will have to verify
compatibility with PHP 3.
