Dear webmaster,
you may find that you are not the person I should write to, in which case I
should like to apologise sincerely. I would have sent it to a
FAQ/documentation editor but I couldn't find a contact on your site.
In any case my point is this:
- The last couple of days I have been busy installing PHP 4.2.0 with Apache
1.3.24 on an AIX 4.3.3 machine. I encountered some problems. Looking on the
web for a solution I found many more people with the same problem, and
luckily, also someone with a solution.
I'd like to make this solution known to the PHP community so that, if you
agree it's valuable, it can be communicated over a FAQ or something.
The Problem:
Trying to install PHP 4.2 as an apache '.so' module fails. During make
install mod_php4.so cannot be located, because it doesn't exist. This may
have something to do failing of linking the libraries during the make
process, but I am not sure about this.
A solution:
Building PHP as a static module into apache works fine!
This may be worth mentioning somewhere, if not sorry to have troubled you.
