I respect the time and effort that folks have put into writing the
manual, but as a web guy I can't help but point out that with the
current layout the only thing that you can intially see at
http://www.php.net/manual/en/
(or on any other language, for that matter) is the credits, and that's
probably not what 99% of the people going to that page are looking for.
Maybe move the author list over to the left sidebar, or to the right, so
that you can see the top part of the TOC without having to scroll down?
Or even flatten them out horizontally. You'd be able to see pretty much
everything down to the function reference, which would make the page
immensely more useable, IMHO.
