Well, we are open to suggestions, and improvements. We already implemented a by-hostname mirror
suggestion (at downloads.php), and users are already redirected to other servers for new PHP package
downloads. A geoip test is also in progress, though I don't know where it is actually... We
also considered using the accept-language header, but as it turned out, it's not really
relieable in many cases.

Subject: php9.net mirror sites
Hi,
My name is Calin Uioreanu, I am a PHP Programmer at ciao.com AG München.
I have a technical observation (suggestion for improvement) to the site.
We have a multinational site, and for the first time visitors we practice a redirection to their
appropriate country based on the browser accept language.
I saw, and it must not only be me, that the www.php.net is usually the slowest (from Germany). I
also saw that you have an impressive list of mirrors.
How complicated would it be to use the browser or the HTTP Post request accept language to
redirect from the main site, in case such a mirror exists,
to the appropriate one? In my opinion this would build a geographical load balancing system, so
that www.php.net doesn't take so much load anymore.
The Germans would go to de.php.net, uk to uk.php.net etc..
I hate preaching, or making unnecessary comments. If this is the case please tell me,
Thanks for reading,
Calin
