Hello,
I work for a non-profit group that is assembling an open database system for the upcoming Maize Genome Project (which is, unsurprisingly, the Human Genome Project for corn). Our web development is going to be taking place using Linux as an operating system and coded in a mix of PHP and Perl, varying depending on the people working on the team.
Anyway, we were working on the layout of some of the pages and during the discussion, we talked about some of the site design elements that we liked. I'm writing to you is that www.php.net is one of the sites we discussed. Our group very much likes your current layout, and we're mostly interested in using something vaguely similar to the header you use for each page.
What we're asking for is your OK in utilizing a few of the design ideas at www.php.net in our project. Our website will NOT look very much like www.php.net ; we just want to make sure that no one has any objections from your group if we use some design concepts from your site. Our project is not for profit in any way, and PHP will be receiving credit on the website. In an ideal world, this email wouldn't be necessary... everyone would share code and ideas, but that isn't always the case and we're very concerned about utilizing concepts without touching base first.
Thanks for your time!
Trent Seigfried
