Hi folks,
having this idea for about two months now, I'm currently
setting it up. The idea behind phppr.com is having sth
similar to linuxpr.com - it was formerly invented when
Linux was not hyped so much.
The idea also began from practical problems I had as
a PHP developer and editor in chief of the PHP Magazin:
which companies have developed interesting commercial
software that is worth to mention? It wasn't possible
to get an overview of the market because sometimes I didn't
know that company X made tool Y.
This should change now. My aim is to help PHP to achieve
more acceptance in the business because no-one can say
"There is no commercial PHP software out there" anymore.
Companies can publish (for free) their press releases on
phppr.com and websites, journalists and developers can see
what has been done in the PHP business.
We will start with the languages German, English and
French (the latter with the help of Damien Seguy) and I
hope it will be a successful project. [The website will
be fully functional within the next two weeks.]
So, what are you thinking about this project? I asked
some companies and PHP developers and they thought it would
be a good idea to do so. Is there any possibility that php.net
would announce it (when ready) or that you would display an
RSS/RDF feed of the press releases?
Thank you for your time.
Björn.
