Dear PHP Mirror site providers!
We appreciate that you intend to provide local search support on your
mirror. As we review our search system, we found out, that unfortunately
only a few mirror sites are said to have local search support installed.
While reviewing how these setups work, we found that your mirror sites
probably lack the correct setup of the htdig program.
Any of your mirror sites results in a "There was an error executing this
query. Please try later." when searched for "install" (which should
produce approx. 800-1000 results). This error is only printed out if
the output of the executed shell script is not correct...
Please check your mirror site setups, and correct them, so your
local search can work again. In case you would not like to offer local
search anymore, please report it to us, so we can remove the setting
from your mirror site. You can also simply remove the configuration.inc
file to disable search for your mirror immediately, but please inform
us too about your local search status changes, so we have an updated
list about mirror sites.
While you correct your mirror setup, please also note, that we
introduced a new vhost setting (see http://php.net/mirroring)
to
specify the htdig shell script's path. If you set that vhost config
option, you can delete your configuration.inc file. We intend to use
the vhost option instead of the configuration.inc file, so the
configuration.inc file is soon to be unused, please move your
htdig path to your vhost configuration.
Thanks,
Goba [one webmaster@php.net]
