Dear nl($num).php.net mirror maintainers!
We have a new NL mirror candidate, who has set up a mirror site for
PHP.net at http://php.mirror.trueserver.nl/ . We have
a dilemma now
that as this candidate says, their server is faster for local
requests then the ones already present. As we have a policy to only
accept mirrors in countries where we have only one mirror, and NL
already has three, a decision need to be made. As I cannot test the
mirror speeds from here, and all the three existing mirrors have
quite new PHP setups, and they are up to date, I cannot find any
reason to replace any of your mirrors. However the new candidate
seems to be promising (even as he promises to set up htdig for us :).
So the question is if someone gives up his mirror site for the new
candidate, or not?
I myself beleive that it is the best for our users to have the best
mirror sites possible. They can measure the quality of a mirror with
some factors:
- up to date
- fast
- quick
I would not like to add nl4.php.net, it seems a bit too much for me.
We have that two mirrors per country rule for some reasons. We would
like to make our rsync server accessible for mirrors, so it is not
doable to increase the number of mirrors indefinitely.
BWT I have included the candidate in this letters recipient list
(he is marcmes (at) nedlinux.nl).

Goba [one webmaster@php.net]
